Everyone Watches, Nobody Sees: How Black Women Disrupt Surveillance Theory

How can we, as designers, use information gathered from surveillance to draw attention to the issues impacting people of color? Can surveillance, under the right hands, be used to support rather than ignore or harm historically disadvantaged people?

Is it truly possible to have a constructive conversation about the surveillance of black women in a classroom without a single black person? Does tackling this issue without participation from a black perspective progress the harm that surveillance and media has caused?
